CQF (Certificate in Quantitative Finance)

Hi everyone.

I recently stumbled on the Fitch's CQF (Certificate in Quantitative Finance).

Basically it is a six months long program on quantitative finance, and upon completion you get a "CFQ" qualification (similarly to the CFA).

The topics covered by the program actually seem very interesting, but the fees are pretty steep for what is fundamentally a certification and not an academic qualification (approx. 15'500 euros for the full program in my area)...

Did you do the program or do you know someone who did?

I am quite curious to hear some first-hand experiences.

After 12 years in financial services - I haven't seen anyone with that designation. I don't believe any of the

portfolio managers or investment analysts had a CQF.

I'm in the US, not Europe, so that might make a difference.  I've never even heard of this designation though, even among designations that I make fun of, and I've attended NY Society of Quantitative Analyst events. (Looking at you CETF, ChFC, CEBS, etc.  Thanks for making me LOL at people who put your designations on their business cards)  At roughly ~$18k, which is about triple the CIMA or CFP, which I both view as mediocre values, I would be careful about enrolling in this.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
