Lateral Into AM Possible?

Hey yall,

Currently an analyst in a very industry specific boutique consulting firm. I wanted to explore moving into AM with PWM as an essentially a “backup”. What would be some pretty useful steps to get this ball rolling? Would signing for the CFA L1 have any play on the resume for this move? Would I just need to bite the bullet and shell it out for an MBA instead?

Just want to get some thoughts and opinions on this
