Non profit AM - Analyst position
Hi all,
I received an offer to work for a non-profit asset / investment management organization (think Stanford, Harvard endowment funds). I've had some experience in investment banking as well.
I'm a little concerned with the exit opportunities - how hard would it be for me to get back into IB or PE without going to B-school? I realize PE hires asset managers etc, but I'm not too sure if compensation is comparable to the folks in acquisitions? Bear in mind that this IM team is extremely small (less than 10), so networking opportunities are rather limited.
I would appreciate any help on this.
If you can get into endowment investing, GO GO GO and stay there. Or only leave to get an MBA. Endowment investing is a beautiful thing- the purest form of value investing. Great quality of life depending on the office set up.
It's true the pace is excellent - I was informed that there would hardly be any need to stay beyond 6, ever. And I realize this sounds pathetic, but coming from IB, I really would have no idea what to do with my time.
I'm also concerned about future exit opportunities. Besides staying in endowments, where else can I potentially go?
Pension funds, equity research, asset management/mutual funds, entry level hedge fund analyst.
Sounds awesome to me coming from banking. I cant wait to work less hours
This thread is helpful - what are others' thoughts regarding MBA admissions from an analyst position at a top endowment? Coming from a larger environment (consulting/i-banking) with more opportunities for "leadership," etc, to a smaller 10-15 person investment office, is it more difficult to build a case for admission to a top-10 MBA?
Thanks for any insight
