Corp Fin/Dev/Strat Compensation 2023/2024

Haven't seen a Comp thread for Corp Fin/Dev/Strat. Let's get one started:

Format Example

Title/YOE:

Firm Type/Industry/Size:

Old Base/Bonus:

New Base:

City Description:

I'll add mine once we do our performance review in a week or two

Most Helpful

Title/YOE: FP&A Manager, almost 9 YOE (6.5 big 4, 2.5 in role)

Firm Type/Industry/Size: Energy/utilities/mining portco

Comp: $150k base, 20% bonus, ~$100k equity a year (one time grant 6 months after starting, vests over 5 years, only pays upon sale or distributions over hurdle)

City Description: suburb of LCOL (Phoenix/Dallas/Atlanta)

5% raise, bonus paid at 25% instead of 20%

For another datapoint, recent role I discussed with recruiter but didn't interview for:

Director of Corp Dev and FP&A, energy/utilities/mining portco

$175 base, 30% bonus, no equity (feedback was VP's and above get equity)

I really wanted the title and increased base, but would have required a 3 hour drive or 2 hour bus commute per day, not ideal with two young kids (and didn't want to leave 60% of unvested equity)

Title/YOE: Analyst, Corporate development & Investor relations (<1 YOE)

Firm Type/Industry/Size: Public - Small Cap. co (within O&G)

Old Base/Bonus: 69K Base/1k Bonus (Way below last year's bonus from what I've heard, due to company performance)

New Base: 69K (No raise, worked half of last year)

City Description: MCOL

Title/YOE: FP&A Manager, 8.5 YOE

Firm Type/Industry/Size: digital marketing portco (<$100m revenue)

Comp: $150k base + 15% bonus (discussed a raise & some form of equity after a year during interviews)

City Description: fully remote, but I live in a LCOL / MCOL city

Not ideal comp (especially since I was corpdev before this), but I took it after getting laid off at my last job and so far really like the work and team.

Title/YOE: Manager, Corp Dev and Strategy, ~5 YoE (3.5 in BB / PE, 1.5 in current role)

Firm type / industry / size: Privately held sports agency

Current Comp: $150k + 15% cash bonus target + potential transaction bonus on sale (verbally brought up, not on paper, so who knows)

  • Hoping to get promoted to Senior Manager at Year End

MCOL, hybrid set up
