Apollo Capital Solutions (ASO role) - good opp?
Hi All, I’ve been in contact with a recruiter at Apollo for an Associate role at Apollo Capital Solutions. Does anyone have any intel on the group, i.e., is this the PC team, what are the hours like and view on comp?
Any guidance would be appreciated!
Hey there! If you're eyeing an Associate role at Apollo Capital Solutions, you're looking at a pretty solid opportunity. While I don't have the specifics on the Apollo Capital Solutions team, I can share some general insights based on the most helpful WSO content:
Team Structure: Apollo is known for its rigorous environment and its teams are often lean, which means you could be in for some significant exposure and responsibility. The structure can vary, but you'll likely find yourself working closely with senior members.
Hours: In high finance, especially in roles like this, the hours can be long. It's not uncommon to clock in 70-80 hours a week, sometimes more during busy periods. Apollo, being a top-tier firm, will likely align with industry standards on this front.
Compensation: Apollo has a reputation for competitive compensation packages. While the exact figures for an ASO role can vary, you can expect a salary that's on par with or above the industry average, plus bonuses that reflect your contribution and the firm's performance.
Reputation and Experience: Apollo is a powerhouse, and experience there can be a career-defining move. It's known for its aggressive investment strategies and strong performance, which can be a great learning ground.
Remember, these are just general insights. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it's always best to network with current or former employees, and it sounds like you're already on the right track by engaging with a recruiter. Keep those conversations going and don't hesitate to ask these questions directly to get the most relevant info for your decision. Good luck!

It’s a fine opportunity, but ACS is not an investment team — they handler internal capital markets functions and external syndication. Much more akin to capital markets banking (but your only client is Apollo) than actual investing.
Source: I work at Apollo and interface with ACS regularly.
Quick question do you have any view on Apollo HVF and the opportunistic credit fund? I’m an incoming analyst just trying to do a little research on the groups throughout these next few months just to learn what group best fits me. Does opportunistic credit ever hold a long term view on credit or are they more focused oj tradable credit (like diameter)
If it’s better I can write all the questions I have about these groups
Happy new year brother
HVF is a private mezz/pref investment platform while Opportunistic Credit has multiple stressed credit mandates (the trade- and IRR-oriented L/S HF, and MOIC-oriented PE-style drawdown vehicles, etc). HVF could technically do public stressed/distressed but they haven’t since their group’s formation. In terms of day-to-day, HVF is more like PE in terms of deal process and Opp Credit is more like HF.
