Moving from Internal sales to S&T?

I Work at a mid sized asset manager in their sales desk covering RIAs, currently interviewing for a Sales role in a EM Fixed Income desk at a small firm. Wanted to know if this was the smart next move for my career? the work of the EM fixed income role seems a lot more interesting than my current role, and this seems like a great opportunity to break into S&T.
My fear is that since It’s a small firm it’ll be difficult in the future to make a lateral move to a larger firm where compensation will be better.
