Oaktree Private Credit?

I know that Oaktree is one of the big players in the private credit/DL space but just wanted to get more insights on their group. Interested in knowing more about the culture, hours, comp and just structure of the group. I want to develop a strong understanding if a group like this would be a good choice or if I should consider other shops if possible.

Are they big in the DL space? Thought they are more distressed/special situation.

Can't say I've seen them in large PC deals or MM club deals. Definitely known for distressed/SS.

That being said, they did just take a majority stake in 17Capital and raised $2.9bn there. Goal is for 17Capital to expand into NA deals from London base.

@OP I'd probably shop around for a bit and if nothing comes up, Oaktree isn't a bad brand name. Could be good learning and resume point.

I don't know. Do you have an offer elsewhere? Sure, Antares does more deals than them so maybe that's a better brand for direct lending - diff. kind of shop.

There is no brand ranking it's whatever fits your goals. Kind of a moot point if you don't have 2 offers. Unless you have a second offer, or are very confident of getting something with the big guys, then this is just a speculative exercise.

On the experience, once you go through the interview process, you'll get a very good sense for what they do.
