Corp Development Analyst wanting to break into Equity Research
Hi everyone,
I am an an analyst approaching 1 year working in corp development for a top BB, but I find the work very unfulfilling and dull. The compensation is also fairly low, and I was hoping to move into a better opportunity that is better aligned with my analytical skills and interests. I've talked to many people working in equity research and it is definitely something I'd like to explore. My biggest roadblocks right now are the fact that I am in a non technical role and since I am almost a year out of college I can't apply to the new analyst programs. Does anyone have advice on breaking into an equity research role? I appreciate any insight on this
And you think ER people get paid a lot? lol
Right now I'm getting paid 60k a year, I'm just hoping to upgrade from that lol
What are your hours like? juice may not be worth the squeeze if your hours are fine. Have you considered Corp dev in an industry you’d like to cover in ER? That might be a prerequisite for you breaking in anyways
If you’re working in corp dev at a BB, easiest in to ER is to a banks team. Assuming you like financials, most teams across the street that are looking to hire a banks associate should view you as relatively plug & play. If non fins, much harder sell.
I do have an interest in financials. Other than financial modelling are there any other technical skills I should have before applying?
