ER opps. for a foreigner looking for analyst roles.

Since this is an American centric site I thought I get to know the opinions from those here about the possibilities or whether its realistic for a non-American to get a analyst role in ER in the States.

To give a brief of my background I'm currently working as an auditor for one of the Big 4 in Dubai at associate level, and have been in this role for one and a half years. I have a Masters in Finance which I completed prior to joining my current role, from Univ. of Manchester (among the best schools in the UK but not top-5 category). I'm currently studying towards the CPA and expect to complete by the end of this year.

I'm currently looking towards moving to ER once I complete two years in the Big4 firm I'm at. I'm looking towards working in the States since it is the largest market for equities and I'm quite interested in living there for a while. I wonder how realistic it is for someone like me to get an analyst level role in Equity research, considering I have no American qualifications (besides the CPA which I'm in the process of obtaining).

I'm not sure how important are the "lack of American qualification" you're worried about.

If someone sees your resume, I'm sure they'll think you're smart enough for the job.

I think your biggest problems will be: 1) Tough hiring environment 2) Non-U.S. citizenship (will you need a visa?) 3) No network
