Series 86 help
Hey guys - I bombed series 86 twice. The first time I went in with no prep (bc it’s just algebra right?) and got humbled with a 50% and the second time I got 71%. Missed by 1Q. I don’t even know what to prep anymore. I finished all my STC tests. Have a tutor who was super helpful but not sure what more I can do other than retaking the STC practice tests again. Any advice?

I found STC to be pretty good at prepping you and never understood why people hated on it so much.
Read the little book they give you and run through every practice question. Understand why you are getting things wrong and drill weak areas until you are doing it in your sleep.
Its really not a hard exam, you just need the reps.

What would you aim for on PTs to pass, was in the 85s last time and barely passed. Exhausted all the STC questions and unsure where else to look to increase my chances of passing

A true 85% on mocks should be enough. If you get an 85% on a mock and fail the real exam, that tells me you likely retook the mock and memorized some answers, used notes, etc. and the 85% wasn’t a true score on completely new questions.
Or maybe you were just really unlucky… I don’t know.
I am in the same boat as the OP, I came shy of passing with 71%. You end up retaking the practice exams more than once, not really a way to avoid that, but def did not memorize answers as there are like 700+ qs in test bank. I'm focused more just knowing the methods this time around and the process (calculations). Just trying to look for any other methods/tips with this exam so I can pass.
I feel like most of the calc Qs from the STC material didn’t even show up on the test. Maybe I’m wrong!
