Ascot Chang Student Discount... Thoughts?

It's for class of 2009 grads, 50% off custom-made shirts and suits: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=52863239294

For shirts, minimum order of 3, with regular prices starting at $130 or so per shirt. Stepping up to slightly better fabrics gets you to $150 per shirt, so at 50% off, it comes down to $300 for 4 custom-made Ascot Chang shirts.

Good deal? Anyone had any experiences? And are these shirts bespoke or MTM?

Thanks!

I had shirts made from Ascot Chang and a few other places in the city. Ascot Chang's workmanship is nice but I was not crazy about their fabrics nor the 3 shirt minimum order. At their entry level price, fabrics are boring and ugly. They have a lot of nice fabrics but you have to spend over $250 to $300 for those - they are unfortunately out of my price range. Ascot is better than Turnbull & Asser.

For more normal prices, La Rukico tailors is good for suits and shirts. It has been in business since the 1970's. http://www.hongkongcustomtailor.com Their suits and shirts are more affordable.

If you are interested in shirts only, go to http://www.alexander-west.com/. Their prices start at $105 per shirt and they sell Thomas Mason fabrics at $150, which is a steal. Supposedly, Eric Trump and Will Smith are customers.

That's a very good deal on bespoke shirts. If I were a 2009 grad, I'd order at least the minimum of four shirts. But at $130+, I'm already happy with the place where I get my bespoke shirts made. Half price, it would be a totally different story because I don't actually think dress shirts are that important -- good dress shirts can be had for under $150, and I'd be hard-pressed to pay more than that for one.
