Hair Products...for Men!
One of my biggest insecurities is my hair. I think it could be decent looking I just don't know how to get it cut or how to/if to style it.
I think it looks good coming out of the shower but then once it dries it gets all poofy.
And I'm always afraid of trying something new. guys i am thinking new men hairstyles what would you think is this right decision for me to change my hair style One time I tried putting some axe crap in it and then my roommate was like didn't you just shower? Why is your hair still greasy. I could have leapt off our fifth floor balcony.

Your hair could be getting "poofy" for a lot of reasons. Do you live in a humid climate? Do you shampoo your hair every time you shower? Is your hair long enough to stick out from your head but not long enough to lay flat? There's enough different hair types that it's pretty tough to diagnose what's going on.
Go find someone who knows hair. You know who knows hair? Hairstylists. Go to a salon and just ask for advice. They will at the very least tell you what kind of hair you have, what kind of product will work in it, and what kind of haircut would work with your hair type and face shape.
Or you could do what my grandfather did. Pretty sure he styled his hair with some ungodly musky tonic. Manliest guy I ever met--I think he got my grandma pregnant just by winking at her.
Big fan of Hanz de Fuko - Claymation. Really removes a lot of the grease from your hair, makes it natural looking, strong hold, but not stiff. According to some people it's not the best hair clay/wax in its price range, but compared to American Crew or Axe it's way better, so I don't want to try something new and be disappointed.

Second the Hanz de Fuko comment. Good but more expensive.
For a budget product, I use the hair fiber from Dollar Shave Club. It's really great. Fiber is just a good hair product for me at least.
Just tried Hanz because of this thread - it's working wonders in my mop. Hair doesn't look greasy and has a ton of hold still

Short on the sides and back, long on the top. Get any strong hold low shine product. Blow dry on coldest setting for 30 seconds. Done.
Are this tip is good for hair?
Tight on the sides (1 fade), medium on the top (scissor), tapered neck. Blow-dry your hair and use matte products. Uppercut Deluxe Matt Clay, Layright Cement, etc.

Clay products are the shit, great hold and they don't make your hair greasy. Try the Rusk clay puddy, smells good and it's $20.
Oils are good, coconut. Use sparingly. Non-alcohol hair products, they won't dry your hair. No hair spray, no gels or moose for me.
From a female's POV, I hate hair products because I like running my hands through a guy's hair... but I guess if you're working it doesn't matter... / that's probably harassment.
I agree with dmw86 that it depends on lots of factors. If you can answer these questions I can provide some product recommendations (gave haircuts to guys on my floor and I have a dad and a brother...) - Hair texture (curly, straight, wavy), if curly, how tight are the curls - Skin type - do you have normal, dry, combo skin - best to gander when it's midday - Hair length and any balding (lols!) - Current shampoo / conditioner / mask / oil brand - Average temperature / humidity of your city - Do you brush or comb? - Do you use cold, warm, or hot blowdryer?
Hair is resilient but also quite delicate. A good shampoo/ conditioner, supplementing with masks / hair oils for dryness / humidity, should really be all you need.
It's only "harassment" if you're ugly.
Great advice on here already.. If you use shampoo every shower I would consider not shampooing every time. Instead, shampoo every three days and just wash your body with body wash (then you won't be rank). This allows a certain oil to build in the hair and allows for a less dry and more healthy look. After, I would use a product of some kind (I prefer American Crew, but to each their own). This is all after going to a GOOD barber.

Here they are: - go for sulfate-free shampoos - less conditioner - avoid the sun and chlorinated water - visit a doctor And find a good barber, as mentioned before.

Don't worry. Just wait a couple of years till you make it to the associate/vp. Your hair would be gone, so does your problem.

Crew makes good hair product for guys. Particularly the forming creme and fiber.
ahmart12 if you want something cheap to start off with I suggest American Crew Fiber Paste (especially if you have thinning hair).
Also I HIGHLY recommend you find a barber (female barbers do exist and are just as good). No need to break the bank but depending on where you're at, a >$28 haircut with styling and shampoo will do.

I used Murrays pomeade everyday in HS, but now I use castor oil and and a dab of all natural leave-in conditioner. Satin durag at night.
Try muk styling mud. It's made in England, and is probably the best hair product out there. I use the blue one. I'd link you to it, but since I'm new here I can't post any links.
