How to get into Securitized Products HF?
Title says it all. What is typical way someone from a bank (or elsewhere) can gain the skill set to get into a securitized products hedge fund? Obviously traditional IBD would not help much since you do not deal with these products. There is CLO/MBS trading but do these desk do fundamental analysis or are they relative value, momentum, etc. traders? Who at a bank does fundamental analysis of securitized products?
Which products are you looking for specifically? Every BB has structured product teams that deal with a wide gamut of products and solutions.
Struct Prod desks hire more quants than anything else these days...so your best bet is a MFE (masters of financial engineering) after an undergrad in Computer Science and Economics.
Struct pod desks at BBs hire these guys hand over fist.
