Can I break into IB?

Hello, I am a junior at a public university and I would love to start an IB position at the end of my senior year. I currently have a 3.6 and am going to complete a global financial compliance internship this summer. On top of that, I completed the Wall Street prep valuation certificate and Bloomberg market concepts to further my understanding and showcase my interest to employers. In anyone's opinion, do I have a shot at IB and if so what actions would you recommend I take to receive an offer? First time posting so would love any feedback!!

In a similar situation, except my junior summer will be in CVC. However, what I will say from talking to people is to start building your network now. Start networking with perspective banks utilizing alums as well as other analysts + associates who you can find some common ground with. The goal is to build relationships with people who would be willing to vouch for you when it comes time for it and to let you know when apps drop (which are usually after the SA programs finish and return offers are finalized). Additionally, I talked with an MD from an UMM bank and he told me explicitly to reach out to the recruiter for my school (from that bank) and to make sure I am familiar with the timeline for FT recruiting as those happen more rapidly than typical SA positions. In terms of knowing technicals, ppl who have gone thru this process have told me that FT recruiting interviews are generally harder than SA ones. So depending on which group you want to be in, you want to familiarize yourself with technicals for that specific group (ie. product groups like DCM, Lev Fin, FIG, or industry groups like TMT, C&R, healthcare, etc.). General knowledge like the 400 guide is base knowledge at this point and you must be able to expand beyond that if you want to have a chance at landing a spot for FT

GPA is okay, but not having an IB internship for your junior summer is a tough spot. Those certificates are nice but not a game-changer. Look to snag an off-cycle internship at a boutique in the fall to get some deal experience. Networking is key, so start shaking hands and making connections (leverage your .edu email while you still have it and look for alums in IB). It's not going to be easy, that's for damn sure
