They play off their New York status and act kind of snobby despite being on the downtrend since covid. Would have been one of my top 3 choices prior to the last couple years. I’ve heard mixed things on the culture. Know they were pretty bloated but think they’ve been slimming out to the point now that I know they’re currently looking for some lateral associates

Spoke to an analyst, associate and a MD. From what the analyst told me, Houston as a whole, but especially Evercore is very chill compared to NYC. Definitely works where you're pulling 80-100 hours, but other weeks where it's close to 40-50. Apparently the culture is good too (hours aside), so probably worth checking it out.

I wonder what % are 40-50 hr wks. Is it 90% 80-100 hr wks and 10% 40-50 hr wks?

those guys lied to you lol - i know an analyst that quit 3 months into being on the desk lmao. Evercore has some of the most toxic cultures (not due to the hours, but the seniors).

Agree - never heard of them working 40-50 a week. Heard more 80 hours in 4 days stories

Houston is much sweatier than NYC. Hardly any lifestyle shops in Houston.

Had a zoom first round with them, it was the most low-energy interview i've ever had. Whole room was kinda depressed, everybody spoke in a monotone voice, one of the interviewers kept having random brain freezes mid-question. Just the weirdest experience overall, I logged out of there and was genuinely wondering if they are ok.
