Evercore/Greenhill vs. Goldman/Morgan Exit Ops

People always talk about the exit ops for BB, and topics have been started asking about exit ops for boutiques/MM firms in general, but not many about ELITE boutiques (evercore/greenhill, maybe lazard if you consider them a boutique) and the threads that have started have like one or two responses.

So don't tell me to go do a search, because I just did.

How do exit ops from the elite boutiques compare to the best BB shops/groups? Is it more dependent on the connections of the MDs at the banks and less on the firm's brand? Do people from these boutiques consistently place at top PE shops (kkr, bstone, carlyle, tpg, silverlake, etc)??

Experienced/knowledgeable replies are more useful than speculation. Thanks.

no, but these places intrigue me with the more intimate environment, etc and was wondering if all other things are equal (like exit ops). if they are then i think they make for interesting places to shoot for; if not, then maybe the benefit i see isn't worth the tradeoff

Please keep in mind this is in the UK, might not be the case in the US.

Having SA offers for both GS and Greenhill, I called up an MD I had got to know through the interview process to ask his advice. He put it like this:

GS doesn't look to hire from Greenhill, Greenhill will gladly take you if you are from GS.

Just one guys opinion, but he had been in the industry for 15 years and is very good at what he does.

all of these names will get you in with headhunters and all the big PE firms. itll get you the interview. in terms of the offer, that will obviously come down to your recs, modeling ability and rankings.

i think the big BB names will be more of a leg up in terms of the smaller MM PE shops and funds that havent necessarily heard of of worked with the top boutiques, thats where the name recognition kicks in

If someone in the PE industry hasn't heard of greenhill, then you are better off not working with them
