JP Morgan 2024 IB LevFin Capital Markets Desk Analyst

Anyone have any insight or information on this group. Recently got a 1st round interview and wanted to see what type of questions would be asked. Would it be very technical or more behavioral and cultural. Any other info would be great

Based on the most helpful WSO content, for a first-round interview with J.P. Morgan's IB LevFin Capital Markets Desk, you can expect a mix of both technical and behavioral questions. Here's a breakdown of what you might encounter:

Behavioral Questions: - Why J.P. Morgan? This question aims to understand your motivation for choosing J.P. Morgan specifically. - Why Investment Banking? It's important to articulate your interest in the field of investment banking. - Teamwork-related questions: You might be asked to describe a situation where you had to collaborate with a difficult colleague or talk about your role in a successful team. - Decision-making scenarios: Be prepared to discuss how you handle making decisions, possibly under pressure.

Technical Questions: - While the context doesn't specify LevFin-specific technical questions, it's wise to be prepared for questions on topics such as: - Debt instruments: Understand the different types of debt and their uses in leveraged finance. - Financial metrics: Be comfortable discussing metrics relevant to credit analysis and leveraged finance. - Market trends: Have an awareness of current market conditions and how they might impact the capital markets desk.

Preparation Tips: - Review the basics of leveraged finance and capital structure. - Brush up on your understanding of WACC, DCF, and comparable company analysis, as these are common technical topics. - Think about recent transactions in the leveraged finance space and be ready to discuss them.

Remember, each interview can vary, but being well-prepared on both fronts will help you make a strong impression. Good luck with your interview!

Did you network before applying or did you just apply via the website? I was told it’s more of a capital markets desk, so interviews will be more market based

noticed people who work in this group put "investment banking" on their linkedin

u gotta be stoopid to ask if lev fin at jpm is investment banking

Let me clear this up- I’m in JPM levfin. The way it works is you have SLF which is the classic lev fun execution and origination team. The back row essentially is capital markets which assists in figuring out where the market is and what the pricing of a loan or bond could be. The capital markets team is interesting because they only have 3 juniors (all analysts) and basically you do cap markets for one year and then rotate into SLF and be a levfin analyst.

Bump - feel like we’re running out of luck if we haven’t heard back

Yes i know someone who heard Sunday night about second round. Not sure if they sent them out all at once or going on a rolling basis

yes, 2nd round emails sent out last sunday... anyone have their second round yet? wondering if it was more behavioral or technical
