Middle Market Firm Rankings

How do these banks compare for their Technology or TMT coverage teams?

Piper Sandler, Oppenheimer & Co., TD Cowen, Raymond James, Lincoln International, William Blair, Harris Williams.

Assuming they all pay around the same range, do any provide significantly better exit opportunities?

Thank you all for the input. I would love to hear from those in the industry and those that aren't.

Cowen / HW / Blair

Lincoln / RayJay

Piper / Opp

Piper could be higher, I'm not familiar with whether or not they've grown their traditionally Tech presence in the last few years.

For TMT? I disagree entirely.

Blair gut their TMT team in their last round of layoffs. RJ should be higher due to their Software practice. Oppenheimer has been hiring tons of MDs, so higher based on that. Piper acquired DBO which was a solid TMT boutique. HW isn’t as active in TMT from my perspective. Cowen Tech has always been meh but we’ll see if there’s any benefits from TD. Lincoln is also meh.

As of now, I would do the following, based off trajectory and recent moves:

in no order:

Piper, RJ, Oppenheimer, WB

/

Cowen, HW

/

Lincoln

I second this. Currently a first-year analyst at low-tier BB. The below seems pretty spot on.

In no particular order: Piper, RJ, Oppenheimer, WB

/

Cowen, HW

/

Lincoln

I normally find these comments funny but do want to point out that your attention to detail sucks, I work in PE. NGMI lad.
