Seeking Advice - PWM to IB/S&T

Hi WSO,

I'm an Incoming PWM Analyst at a NYC BB from a non-target (high GPA/strong extracurriculars) seeking advice.

I'm extremely excited to start my career, but I eventually want to switch into an IB/S&T type role. I noticed that I wanted to do this at the end of my PWM SA stint, but was unsuccessful in making the switch for FT due to obvious poor market conditions.

A lot of people I speak to keep telling me how PWM is a hidden gem. Would I be shooting myself in the foot by leaving PWM?

I'm very confused on what to do next and which role is right for me. Is moving to Capital Markets or S&T (sales) possible? Should I aim to transfer within the same BB or join a different bank?

I want to make a career on the sell side and am currently not interested in going to the buy side.

Please share any advice, opinions, or insight. Thank you!
