How is Dubai?

I am a student going into mid-market M&A in Canada but looking to move to Dubai, the general consensus is that it’s a dead end/worse experience but how much worse is it and what does the experience lack compared to more developed markets?

Does the “it’s worse” argument hold in Canada like it does in the US/UK?

It’s an Islamic authoritarian dogshit country that uses slave labor to maintain its veneer of cosmopolitan sophistication. Not to mention women, and expats are second class citizens, and if you’re gay, they’ll execute you. One moment of scrutiny will reveal that’s it’s nothing more than a poorly planned concrete hellscape with the occasional A-list concert and air conditioned mall

Don’t fall for Dubai’s glitz. It’s all fake. All of it

If you just want to make easier money early but not insane amounts in the longer term and you don't really care about a prestige long term career in finance it's good otherwise its bad.
