It's really your loss if you choose not to use the company wide vacation dates. Really, you should check the firm's handbook for finer details pertaining to this topic. Typically, if you don't use the dates, they do not carry over.
not true. not only do your days carry over but when you eventually leave the company you get paid for any unused days.
This is correct. For most firms, vacation days carry over (you probably get 10-14 of these per year) but sick/personal days do not (you probably get 2-3 of these per year)...
