For the love of god, stop using "i.e." incorrectly
Seen too many people on this forum make this mistake.
i.e., is id est meaning "in other words"
e.g., is what you're actually looking for. E.g., is exempli gratia, or "for the sake of example"
So please stop saying something like "EBs, i.e., Evercore and Centerview" unless you mean to say that the only EBs that exist are EVR and CVP.
Yes this is nerdy shit to care about but goddamn in an industry that cares about pointless details like whether it's mm or million or M or MM, you would think people would actually use the right abbreviation

Well, there's at least two things wrong with that statement, namely the fact that "hell" and "eternity" are not Biblical concepts. "Gehenna/Hades" and "eonian" are, which mean two very different things than what Christians believe. PM me if you want more info.

I'm not going to get into this in a comment on WSO, but frankly I don't give a shit what the "religiously devout" think. The religious majority has never, at any point in history, been on the side of the truth (Jesus vs. the Pharisees, the prophets vs. the Jews, etc.). As Paul says, they have a "form of devoutness while denying the power" and a "zeal without recognition", "seeking to establish their own righteousness." They "worship another Jesus". In fact, because of Christians, the "name of God is being blasphemed among the nations". The entire world is turned away from God because of the incorrect teachings of Christianity (e.g. eternal torment/hell, free will, the Trinity, immortality of the soul, trying to keep the law of Moses and "behave themselves", etc.) based on Bible mistranslations, human pride, and not understanding the magical thing called context. Like I said, PM me if you want to learn about what the Bible actually says in its original languages, properly translated. This invitation goes out to anyone reading this comment as well. And by the way, even if it were a sin, last time I checked, Jesus took away sin 2,000 years ago.

Punctuation too. You nailed it but most don’t i.e., they almost always leave off the comma after the second period.
Seriously, why are people getting so butthurt about this ? All you have to say for it is IE "in regards to this topic" that's all it has to be. I mean seriously, the exact latin is "in exemplum" which means "in example". Grow up and swing a pair if you have them.

The pedant in me loves this, lmao. Other ones that are nails on a chalkboard to me are the misuse of "comprise" and "begs the question."
I'm not going to say anything snarky, I agree with this. It might make you sound like a pedantic cocksucker, but knowing words good shows you have your grade 10 and is just overall more professional.

I hate to be that guy, but from what I’ve seen people will think you’re an idiot if you use it correctly.
I don't say "forte" (when meaning somebody's strength/talent) in conversation for this reason. The historical, correct, pronunciation is "fort" but you'll just sound like a dumb weirdo. Everyone says "for-tay."
Yep this drives me nuts. Next up, we're coming for people who say "I resonate with that" instead of "that resonates with me."
And don't get me started on people who say "ex" or "ek" cetera instead of "et cetera."
