Hiring season ?

Recently been laid off due to cost cuttings after spending 2 years at a BB. I was on the verge of leaving anyway as I was sold a dream by a consultancy that I'l be working in the department I wanted, instead it was regulatory project managment related work. My Qs: (1) when do BBs hire for off-cycle grad programs and also normal grad programs? (2) my age is between 27-29, I graduated in 2021. Do I stand a chance to enter a grad program? For those wondering I've studied a lot hence my age (1x bachelors degree, 2x masters). One of my masters is in management from a top 5 ranking university. (3) I really just want to get into the right role now which will take some time, how do I justify the gap on my CV in the meanwhile ?

1. Not eligible for grad programs

2. Off cycle hiring is on an as-needed basis rather than specific timing. Few hires needed right now so less hiring.

3. What roles are you aiming for? I would prioritize having a job even if it's not your dream job (within reason, try to stay in finance). If you have 6+ months off it becomes even harder to land a job, so don't be too picky. Given you don't currently have a job you lose a ton of leverage and most people have to downgrade roles in this situation. If you want IB just get a finance job now and maybe consider an MBA.

1) I've seen few people getting into grad schemes 2 years out of university, are you sure it's not possible? 3) ideally looking to go into an investment analyst role / asset management and then move into eq research. I'm keen to be involved in modelling and carrying out valuations.
