I'll Take a Heart Attack - Hold the Bun

Have we lost our fucking minds? This has nothing to do with Wall Street or investing (unless you're willing to short KFC on moral grounds), but what the fuck? Seriously?

KFC introduced their new Double Down and it's pretty heinous. No bun; the bacon and cheese are sandwiched between two pieces of fried chicken (note they're not comfortable disclosing what parts of the chicken, but it definitely isn't breast meat because that's something they'd brag about).

I guess the health care bill passed not a moment too soon. Seriously, who eats this shit???

Did anyone see the Weekend Update on this? It comes with fries (chicken fries) and a drink (a cup made of chicken)

looking for that pick-me-up to power through an all-nighter?

I've had 2 already.......

Only 600 calories? I find that hard to believe. That thing looks like it would give the Luther a good run for its money.

memento:
I swear KFC got this idea from 30 rock: "With the Tracy Jordan meat machine you take bread out of the equation!"

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.

Edmundo,

Stay in France, bro. In America we eat whatever the fck we want. Don't get me wrong, I dislike fat people and all that they stand for (unless they have an uncontrollable medical condition) but the last thing I want is for the US government to tax or tell me what I can eat. And yes, I realize one of the reasons healthcare costs are high is bc poor and poorly controlled people stuff their faces with this shit and have heartaches. Heartaches and Freedom. God bless America.

Although, I haven’t yet had one, it doesn’t seem to be that bad. Two chicken breasts + one cheese + two bacons + alpha (sauce…) The formula is quite straightforward. Going with the no-bun strategy is actually quite great, as the breads used in making burgers are not that reliable. If you think about in that way, actually one potential risk has been reduced. Honestly, there are lots of shits selling around us other than this one. Dunkin, Krispy Kreme, just to name a few. Maybe the company has thought about these kinds of reactions, and is actually using these negative word-of-mouths “marketing”. People will have a try on these, regardless of others’ view, and get used to it eventually.

Possibly it is less caloric. However, a study by a newspaper (don't remember which) put the tally at 1200 kcal.

Whoever said, "this thing has 0 carbs => good," and "lots of proteins => good" do world a favor, find the highest spot within a mile to jump off of and do it.

This piece of shit has 53/63 gr of proteins (regular/grilled), which is waaaay too much. Average human being can absorb 25-30 g of protein/meal; bodybuilders/weightlifters absorb 35-40g. Anything over 40g is waste.

KFC is pulling "high protein" card to lure all un-educated people. Numbers for sodium/cholesterol/fat are HUUUGE.

Yeah, I really had to laugh at the challenge issued over at DealBreaker when I read their piece. 7 of these bastards in a half hour? This thing has almost the maximum daily allowance of sodium. Not the recommended daily allowance, the maximum daily allowance. To eat 7 of these bad boys in a half hour would inject over 10 FULL GRAMS of sodium into your bloodstream. That's a week's worth of the maximum daily allowance in one sitting.

There's a word for that: renal failure.

This is everything that is right with America. Can I get a U-S-A chant please?

------------------------------------------------------------------ "I just want to be a monkey of average intelligence who wears a suit. I'll go to business school!"

its not the protein or the fat that'll mess you up...it's the sodium...and especially if you don't go out and work up a giant sweat every day

You can do FAR FAR worse in a fast food restaurant. If it wasn't for all the breading on the chicken it would be almost a zero carb item. Another factor to consider is the high sodium associated with a sandwich like this which is concerning. From a health standpoint, I'd rather be forced to eat this thing than 2-3 large slices of pizza.

Disclaimer: I have not eaten fast food since 2004
