Help with making the most of upcoming search fund internship
Starting as a Intern at a relevantly new Search Fund in a little over a week and am looking on for some advice on how I can make the most of this opportunity. A little background information on my situation:
-Graduated with my bachelors in march, attended school in Australia and was planing on staying in the APAC region but due to personal reasons moved back to Toronto.
-Have spend most of the time since moving back networking and applying to jobs, but haven't gotten anything that I'd like. Am mainly interested in investment sales, trading, private banking and wealth.
-Got accepted into a Masters program at a target Canadian school, starting in January and due to the emphasis on career development have accepted.
Am hoping that I can leverage this Internship to gain a Internship next summer at a BB, then land a SA spot in the summer of 2021 with the help of the Career development department of the school, networking and the Internships.
Any advice / ideas on how I can make the most of this opportunity would be appreciated.
Bump
Worth throwing this out there, search funds are seedy as fuck in my opinion.
A Boston-Based Company Has to Pay More Than Half a Million Dollars for Failing to Compensate Interns - Search Fund Accelerator
Classic example of a PE investing concept where the attractive returns reported for the "asset class" are skewed by a handful of crazy outliers. The rest meanwhile seem to crash and burn frequently and abuse interns for cheap/free labor.
Hope you can make something out of it, because I have seen some folks manage to leverage the experience into banking. Others got nothing from it though so tread lightly.
