What are the chances the pension fund role could evolve into a more specialized role as the team grows?
I think you’re thinking about it the right way. It’s much easier to go from direct to secondaries / FoF but not the other way around. So really comes down to your long term goals. Personally, I think secondaries is a very exciting place to be in. But others may have different thoughts.
Curious, any idea what comp packages look like at each role?
Totally agree. Would also be cognizant of joining a pension. Compensation will be lower and there's a connotation to having it on your resume (Canadian shops excluded).
Can you speak a little bit about the skillset acquired, day-to-day, comp, and exit ops for secondaries? Would love to know more about the space.
I’ve heard conflicting views from “it’s an amazing experience” to “your just goal seeking for NAV discounts and cranking out shallow models”
Also interested in case studies if anyone has any or knows the typical process. Couldn’t find any online.
I work in secondaries. Pm me and I'll let you know if the firm is worthwhile or not
Any thoughts on Alpinvest, Harbourvest, Hamilton Lane and Adam Street?
