Investing in real estate in developing countries?

I haven’t seen this discussed on here and don’t even know how feasible it would be but thought it would be interesting to discuss. So imagine buying properties in a place like Pakistan or somewhere similar. I’m sure it’s not the easiest thing in the world and maybe it’s not even worth it considering the risks. But how would one go about doing this? Or would it be easier to raise money from wealthy people over there and invest it for them in the US. Have some family that is well connected, I’m sure they can make some introductions for me when the time comes. Thoughts?

Lol I’m surprised there are so many of us. Literally don’t know another Pakistani in RE in “real life.” Anyway, yeah Bahria is what got me interested in investing in third world countries as well. I might make this a little research project on the side over the summer, compiling as much info as I can on the risk/reward of investing in places like Pakistan and how viable it is. I’m think partnering with locals who know how to deal with regulations (or lack thereof) and knowing the areas that are growing and have a need for a certain product type. All of this is off the top my head though, have no idea if it’s possible.

Maybe nations that are a little more developed could work? Again, need to do a lot more work. I just think it could be very interesting project to take on.
