Investment pathways to wealth creation

A friend and I just finished undergrad & recently bought a 2plex in Ohio. We want to scale as much as possible in the next 10 years, reinvest our cash flow and be able to do this full time eventually.

We're doing what we can with the money we have now as recent college graduates. But I'm aware that while buying a standard duplex will put you in a higher income bracket eventually, it will never create immense wealth.

Controlling the value of an investment with rehab/repairs seems like the best path to create Fuck You type of money in real estate. Should our strategy be something like reinvesting into more and more 2plexes until we are able to sell and buy a larger multi-family complex that could use a little rehab? It's risky, but we do have a high risk tolerance.
