NYU MSRE vs Columbia MSRED
anyone have insight to which program is better and has better career placement, average salary, etc? Both schools says they don't release statistics, but wasn't sure if there was knowledge from 3rd party sources or personal experience.
Why not an MBA instead? Both have great RE departments. Depending on your work experience, you'll have a legitimate shot at REPE, REIB and top tier REIT.
Already have my MBA from UConn.
I think Columbia will definitely be the choice here. Your comparing an Ivy league vs a mid tier school. Just pick the best school you can get into, prestige is all that counts
I have heard the opposite (NYU Schack>Columbia MSRED). But MIT has more clout than both as far as real estate degrees go.
NYU' s high acceptance rate is curious.
I agree MIT is the strongest MSRE, then (of the two you are considering) Columbia, followed by NYU. I heavily considered these programs but decided an MBA would serve me better.
Any other WSOers applying to an MSRE program for this year? Hoping to hear back from Columbia in the next week..
whats your experience chrisjr and stats? you can pm me. Im just curious for future reference
3.4 GPA from semi target Canadian. 2 yr experience at large real estate company. GRE 159 quant 164 verbal (GMAT only required for MIT).
Interested as well. From what I've heard and researched, Colombia>NYU in terms of getting a shot at REPE type of roles. Nevertheless if you read NYU's course descriptions for their MSRE, it is heavily focused on the finance side, especially if you specialize in the Finance and Investments track.
In at Columbia. Feels good man.

Be wary of the dates of posts and reputations have shifted a good deal over the past 5 years. Generally MIT, Columbia, USC, Cornell are considered top tier.
Columbia program has a lot more integration with the business school that offers some very rigorous finance courses.
