Australian MS Finance Profile Review
I would really appreciate any feedback that anyone could provide. Planning on applying to MSF Programs in Australia for Fall 2021 admission. I'm a US citizen so I'd need work sponsorship post masters.
BS in Finance with honors from a non target state school on the west coast (3.37 GPA, which I believe works out to a WAM of 84%, which I got by dividing 3.37/4)
https://www.oecd.org/careers/young-associate-prog…
Another source I found with grade conversion (puts my WAM roughly at 76-77 given 3.37 is a little less than halfway between 3.3-3.49). Not sure which of these is most accurate.
Work Experience: 3 IB Internships in DCM (Boutique, MM and BB), Off Cycle Trading Assistant Intern on Rates Desk at a BB and F500 Tech Consulting (think IBM/Oracle/Intel)
EC's: D1 Baseball player (career ended prematurely due to injuries), Consulting Thesis project with a different F500 tech company, Raised 5 million USD for a technology startup, Study Abroad (Australia) and conducted a few research projects with professors (developed a ML algorithm predicting the liquidity needs of F500 companies over the course of a fiscal year)
GRE Score: 158 Q and 156 V (Expecting to raise that to the low 160's when I take the exam in a month, these are currently my most consistent scores from practice tests)
Programs:
University of Melbourne Enhanced MSF
Monash University MSF
UNSW MSF
University of Sydney Masters in Commerce (Finance Specialization)
UTS MS in Quantitative Finance (studied abroad here and the coursework seems very interesting, I also understand that this is a non GO8 program)
Post MSF Goal: Credit Research Analyst, Junior Analyst on a Credit Trading desk or Valuation Analyst
Reasons for getting MSF: Want to continue to strengthen my technical skillset and have another opportunity to recruit for jobs (had a MM PE offer in LA pre covid that was rescinded due to hiring freezes and think an MSF would make me a stronger candidate). Want to do my masters in Australia specifically because I wish to become a dual citizen there while pursuing a career in finance. I also understand that doing an MS in Finance is not the norm in Australia and welcome any feedback on my plan.
