Pros/Cons of Dual Degree Options
Hi all, I'm a freshman at a non-target, and have enough credits to pursue dual-degree (or theoretically just a minor) with Finance. I'm currently doing Finance + Applied Math, but I'm thinking about changing that, and I've narrowed it down to 3 options.
Option 1: Stick With Math Major (16 cred/sem)
Pros: 16 credit/semester pace, I enjoy math, no major-change paperwork hassle
Cons: Not very useful unless I go to grad school, which I don't want to, and a Math Degree can get pretty hard and will either negatively affect my GPA or my free time.
Option 2: Data Science Major (17 credit/sem)
Pros: 17 credit/semester pace, very enjoyable, fairly easy, more useful than math
Cons: Doesn't release until Fall 23 so planning for it would be a PITA, doesn't have a ton of use without a grad degree
Option 3: CS Degree (18 cred/sem)
Pros: Obviously the most useful, opens up a ton of careers, and would still look good if I was going for a normal high-finance position.
Cons: Ton of classes, no room for non-optimal courses, fairly difficult
