Stanford vs Wharton Undergrad
Hey eveeyone. I think I want to get into social impact consulting. Right now, I am trying to choose between Stanford and Wharton for undergraduate. I was wondering if you think one school has more adv than another? Pls tell me what you think!
100% Stanford. Less competition internally and Stanford feeds hard into consulting. Idk what the specifics are for social impact, but Stanford is the place to be. Wharton is great for banking but remember, Wharton per class has like at least 500 kids recruiting. Stanford has 50 with a very strong alumni base all across Wall Street and management consulting firms. Seems to be more emphasis on social good here too but that’s subjective so I could be very wrong.
You don’t have to declare major until junior year allowing you to take classes everywhere and get a feeling for what you wanna study. No pressure here
This is some stupid shit
*Wharton kids furiously typing
Wharton >>>>>>>
Please choose Stanford, I had the exact same choice and I regret my decision everyday. DO NOT turn down a 4 year trip to one of the most beautiful places in the world for this shit show of a school. Weather sucks, people are over competitive, and no one cares about academics outside of the FNCE and ACCT classes needed to do IB.
Philly or beautiful CA? Is this a joke? With a marginal level of effort you’d be able to land any job you wanted from either school. Go to Stanford.
This is a crazy question to ask to strangers on the internet. You're lucky to be in this position, now it's time to self-reflect. What are your ambitions for the next 4 years? Where do you want to be when you graduate college? How do you want to spend your college years? If you are dead set on finance 100% and want the best job offer possible in finance out of college, and do not care about anything else in your college experience, go to Wharton. If you even would care a little about the culture of your school and the experience you have during college, go to Stanford 100%. More prestigious, better culture, intellectual but fun...I don't think you can turn down Stanford unless your sole objective in College is to get a job in private equity.
Wait you're interested in consulting? Stanford hands down it's not even close.
As a Wharton grad, go with Stanford. The location is great, whereas Philly kinda sucks bc of the incredibly shitty weather and all the local people (primarily black).
With Wharton you have a higher chance of landing a MF PE job out of undergrad, but outside of that Stanford opens up similar doors. Hopefully you go there, realize finance is ass, switch to tech, and live a good life on the west coast. If you somehow knew 100% you wanted to do finance and be in NYC, I’d go with Wharton, but there’s no way you could know that as a high schooler
Edit: Forgot you mentioned going into social impact consulting. Wharton would only give you a leg up with MBB, especially NYC offices, so in your case definitely go with Stanford.
Who gave this racist comment a silver banana? There are many reasons to choose S over W but the amount of black people isn’t one of them
Stanford 10000x. Don't sabotage yourself
My dad went to Penn and I favor it greatly, but knowing California I think I would choose Stanford BARELY over Wharton. I'm a huge fan of California and my sister went to grad school at Stanford and each of her classmates had amazing stories and were trailblazers in their industries. The Stanford network is SUPER TIGHT.
