Part of the allure of IB, PE, and/or HF is the compensation. I expect to enter the industry in 1-2 years, but, I am a very personal individual when it comes to sharing things about my personal life. Is it possible to obtain an 8-9 figure net worth with no one (outside of your family) knowing about your success? Or is that just not common in HF, PE, and IB?

1) I wouldn’t worry about that when you haven’t even entered the industry yet, you can always walk away if you are concerned (seems crazy to try and account for this when chances are you won’t get anywhere near that) 2) it depends on how you get there. I know people who make ~$20mm a year who aren’t ever on the news and no one would recognize them. But if you are a founder of a company that gets big, or an activist HF manager that is constantly in the news, well then people will know about you.

Finance people are not celebrities, especially at the 8 figure net worth. There are tons of people at that level that you have never heard about.
