GS Sales & Trading Superday - Need Help

I just received the invitation email to the GS superday next week and am hoping for insights from anyone who did GS S&T superday in the past. I'm wondering whether the interviews will be highly behavioral/technical focused and approximately how many rounds there will be. Also will it be beneficial to prepare for accounting questions cuz that's my weakest part :( It would be wonderful if you could leave some advice below or directly DM me! Thank you so much!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the GS Superday experience, especially for Sales & Trading, can vary, but here are some insights that might help you prepare:

  1. Behavioral vs. Technical Focus: While the GS Superday can include both behavioral and technical questions, the emphasis often leans more towards understanding your thought process, strategic thinking, and how well you fit within the team and the company culture. However, do not neglect technical preparation, as it can set you apart from other candidates.

  2. Rounds of Interviews: The number of rounds can vary, but typically, you might expect around 3 interviews during the Superday. These interviews could be with different members of the team, ranging from analysts to managing directors.

  3. Accounting Questions: While accounting might not be the main focus for a Sales & Trading role, having a solid foundation in financial concepts is crucial. If accounting is your weak spot, it certainly wouldn't hurt to brush up on the basics, as it can help you understand and analyze financial statements, which is valuable in S&T.

  4. Preparation Tips:

    • Understand the Market: Be prepared to discuss current market trends, your opinion on certain stocks or sectors, and how various economic factors might influence the market.
    • Technical Skills: Refresh your knowledge on financial modeling, valuation techniques, and basic accounting principles. Even if the role is not heavily focused on accounting, understanding the financial health of companies is essential.
    • Behavioral Questions: Prepare for questions about your past experiences, why you're interested in S&T, and why you want to work at GS specifically. Reflect on your experiences that demonstrate teamwork, leadership, analytical skills, and resilience.
    • Mock Interviews: Practice with friends or mentors, especially those with experience in S&T. This can help you get comfortable with the format and receive feedback on your answers and delivery.

Remember, the Superday is not just about assessing your technical skills but also about seeing if you're a good fit for the team and the firm's culture. Show your enthusiasm for the role, be genuine in your responses, and don't be afraid to ask thoughtful questions at the end of your interviews.

Good luck with your GS Sales & Trading Superday!
