Is it worth building a non-tech startup business?

As we know, a lot of the hype in the past twenty or so years has been on technology startups — those that hit product market fit, can scale fast using code (rather than labour) and hit crazy valuations.

However, is it worth even trying to start a business that's not a technology startup? Technology startups are notoriously difficult, but at least there is a wealth of knowledge online, general principles ones can follow and a deep venture community willing to fund startups in every sector. I can't think of many non-technology businesses started in the last 5-10 years that have blown up. Many Gymshark and Liquid Death (based on valuation), but that's about it.

Many of the people on this website will be non-technical professional workers, so unless they can partner with someone non-technical or pay a stupid amount of money to a development company (would not recommend), they're sort of screwed when it comes to starting a tech startup — at least initially.

Thoughts? Is it even worth trying a non-software/AI based business, or are the chances of success even lower?
