Crypto Experience W/ Longterm Goal Of Going Into VC
Hey everyone! Thanks in advance for giving this a look. I'm currently preparing for a slight (some would say more than slight lol) career transition with the long-term goal of ending up at a VC early-stage fund focused on cryptocurrency/blockchain/fintech solutions. With this in mind, I'm considering a variety of paths forward ahead of time. Here's my background for context:

I have a BA in Political Science and was trained as a journalist out of school (been out of school working professionally for several years now).

I'm attending an NYC non-target MSF program starting this fall. I'm hoping this will help provide the skillset needed to "do the work" to start.

I currently now have three years of professional experience working in the cryptocurrency space, including trading in what I guess would be the crypto-equivalent of a prop trader for a clearing firm. I also have experience as a consultant. My consulting experience included both individuals as well as companies/institutions.

After the trading and consulting experience, I moved into a subject-matter-expert capacity as an editor for large publications (worked with a variety of publications with a focus on editing content for industry leaders/experts, mainly in crypto/finance). Here, I've developed a network of C-suite executives, VPs, MDs, etc. in a wide array of avenues in the financial services industry, crypto space, and broader fintech space. I also develop policies for crypto content as well as provide broader guidance for other editors on this type of content.

I am looking to start my own Youtube channel focused on breaking down concepts in fintech, crypto, and blockchain in a unique way that has yet to be presented in similar channels.
So with this context in mind, what are some other things that I can do to help further my chances of achieving this goal? Am I somewhat on the right track? Also, what type of jobs should I be looking for either during or after school to help get me closer to my goal? Also, will I need to consider an MBA after a few more years of more direct (in the sense of focused towards these goals) work experience?

What does this mean? Full clarity I have previous experience at one of the largest lenders and additional experience at one of the largest MM's in the space so I am very crypto-native. I am also a venture scout on the side, helping source deals for a couple of crypto venture firms. So one of your roles was as a prop trader (directional risk taker on cryptos) for a clearing firm? Just want some additional clarity since that sounds like an oxymoron - prop trading at a clearing firm.
The biggest thing you can do to further your goal here is to build your personal brand in the space on Twitter, podcasts, medium, sounds like YouTube as well. You will not need an MBA for a crypto VC. To be honest crypto is the industry where your resume and achievements matter more than your school or your background.
