Venture Capitallist with an ER background
I know there are some people (say Bill Gurley, Mary Meeker would probably be another example) who later become top venture capitalist after succeeding as a TMT research analyst. It seemed to me that the skill sets gained as a research analyst are not quite transferable to a VC role. But as large VC shops now more actively pursuing late-stage investment opportunities, public market experience may become a big plus. How would you guys comment on this sort of transition? Do you think more people would take on this route?
