Advice on Pensions & Endowments in Texas

Looking for some advice on large pensions and endowments in TX, mainly public. Does anyone have any color on the pros and cons of working at places like Texas Teacher Retirement System, the Employee Retirement System, or the Texas Permanent School Fund? The roles in question are in asset allocation as an investment analyst. How would they compare to a place like the UT investment management company?

Curious to hear about experiences and/or word on the street.

Any and all advice appreciated.
