Is it possible to move from from buy-side trading to equity research?

I currently work as a derivatives trader at a small broker and im trying to switch to equity research. I recently got offered a job as a equity trader for a large asset manager in London (T.Rowe, BlackRock, Schroders etc) but I'm hesitant on taking it because I feel like I'll get pigeon-holed into it and won't be able to switch but the pay is good and I can get my CFA with them. Any advice or insight is welcome.
