Jr Buyside Analyst Salary
Hey guys,
Going through the interview process with a few boutique shops ($5-$10B AUM) in Toronto and want to have a general idea if/when salary comes up.
Does $45-50k base with $10-15k bonus sound reasonable? I just want to be in the ballpark if the subject comes up. I've been working in wealth management for 6 months and have 3 internships on the buy-side while in school.
Appreciate any suggestions.
That's too low. I would accept it though for learning opportunities.
Can you give me a more accurate estimate? This is a junior analyst position, essentially a new graduate role.
Going to vary widely between shops and depending on the CoL. The numbers you gave aren't unrealistic for a low CoL city at a boutique AM shop. You definitely could get more somewhere else, but if you think it's a good experience you can make up the difference in a few years when you lateral.
Thanks for the reply. CoL? I'm not familiar with the term. The city would be Toronto, not sure if that changes things.
CoL - cost of living
Those numbers sound low though.
Seems a little low. 50-60k base with 10-20k bonus would sound more like what you could usually expect. Although it does indeed depend on Cost of living.
Definitely sounds low to me. Most entry level buy side comp starts at 60-70k base with a bonus potential of 30%+. I wouldn't discuss comp until you get an offer. If they really press you on it throw at a high number (i.e. "my research shows 75k base is fair") and let them negotiate down. Never negotiate against yourself.
