Pimco Client management sa

I currently go to a non target and am in credit risk at a smaller bank this summer. Just got a PIMCO offer for an the CM team and I’m hearing it’ll be a mix of client facing and somewhat technical work(BBG, Excel, Tableau) just trying to find out anything more about this position and what exit opps could look like if I return after the summer for full time.

Have some contacts in this group. Great hours and great comp, I hear the work can get dry from time to time but a very central position at the FT level. At the full time level you’d go account analyst -> associate -> account manager. Seems many in this group stay long enough to become account managers, not sure where the others exit to without first getting an MBA. If you want to be client facing this is a great place to be but if you’re hoping to do credit research or a portfolio management track down the line, I don’t think you will pick up too many transferable skills here, someone please correct me if that’s wrong.

As for day to day at the analyst level, it seems like you’re mostly servicing client requests and further down the line it gets more relationship oriented. All depends on what you want to do in the future but Id take this role if client facing/account management is where you want to be.

At the analyst level you’re looking at around 90k base, not sure on bonus unfortunately. I’ve heard of post MBA account managers all in at around 200-250k out of school. Past the VP account manager level (SVP, EVP) comp picks up depending on your channel (institutional, retail, consultant), not certain on these numbers as I only know juniors but wouldn’t be surprised if those guys were clearing 500k. You’re definitely going to take a haircut in comp progress when compared to your investment team counterparts but it’s not as significant as you might think at the junior levels. Good luck!
