Private Wealth Management Pathway

Hello everyone a little about myself I'll be finishing my first degree in education this December. It was too late to change my major I also had a lot of growing to do being a first generation college student I managed to keep a high gpa while maintaining long hours and various social activities.

So I'm interested in going back to school for a finance degree to eventually work my way up to private wealth management. I currently live in VA and am currently employed with the govt. I'm 26 going on 27 female. I'm also a business owner.

My question is which pathway academically would be best for my goal?I'm interested in both UVA and Georgetown would these be okay target schools for undergrad or staying at VCU an option too? Would love any opinions I also wouldn’t mind other cities for schools for transfer recommendations.

I would like to add due to my business and current career, as well as utilizing my first degree come January I can't up and just move away I would need another 2-3 years to be comfortable (I'd like to pay out of pocket and pay off my current student loans and let my business mature a little more so that when I do transfer I can just focus on school and not work w-2 jobs until heading into finance and depend on business income) as to why I'm considering just transferring later after 2 years.

A. Community college 1 year - VCU 1 year - then a transfer into a top tier school

B. VCU B.S to M.S with minor in economics and risk management all 4-5 years

C. VCU 2 years then transfer to Top tier

While in school again I plan to apply and obtain summer internships, gain relevant skills such as communication etc, network, volunteer more, and join professional, finance related, and social organizations and try to get some leadership positions.

Also is there anything else anyone can recommend to better enhance my resume and chances?

Location wise I would like to start my career in DC and eventually relocate/settle in LA after obtaining a MBA.

I'm very interested in becoming apart of Morgan Stanley and see they have various programs such as:

1 year diversity wealth advisor associate program which leads to their

3 year financial advisor associate program

They also have the 3 year Private wealth advisor associate program which having the MBA is preferred

I'm assuming all should be followed in this order for my end goal?

Any advice and gems anyone can share would be great.

Thank you in advance and thanks everyone who has contributed to my research so far!
