Qualifications for fund managers?

Hello everyone!

I'd like to become a fund manager in the future. I have discovered I will have to retake level 3 of the CFA exam next year, and there is a full year to wait for that. Furthermore, there are a lot of people with that qualification these days. I therefore think I would like to study for sth additional in the meantime.

So everyone, please tell me if you have a strong feeling about the following:

1) What sort of qualification these days would make me truly stand out from the crowd? (since CFA and MBA are now very common)
- I think I'd prefer a qualification that teaches me something that would directly improve my job performance, and that can also be usefully applied in a major emerging market.
- Does any online MBA in investment management exist?

2) I am also very interested in REITs - is there any REIT investment analysis exam that exists?

3) Would having a PE qualification benefit me in managing a normal equity fund? Which one?

4) Do India and Hong Kong have any valuable qualifications that are different from the US?

5) For people interested in a global perspective, what foreign language would you study?

I eagerly await your responses, everyone!

"Fund Manager" is far too broad a label to be useful. There are different qualifications for a pension fund manager, a college endowment fund manager, a mutual fund manager, and a hedge fund manager. Please be more specific.

Online MBAs will not get you a good job. The best route to take if you want to land a great job is to get an MBA at a prestigous school.

I'm fairly certain U of Pheonix online has an online degree for becoming a hedge fund manager in 3 months, with those qualifications screw the CFA you are more than ready to have pension funds line up to invest in your swing trading strategy
