Advice needed - switching from a Big 4 (Risk and financial advisory) to an MBB (M&A consulting)

Hey people!

I've joined Deloitte USI's (Offices of the US)  Risk and Financial Advisory practice, where I'll be focusing on the "compliance and regulatory" vertical.

While this is not so relevant to M&A consulting, this was one of the few good opportunities I got since I'm not from a target school.

Four years from now, I intend to go for an   MBA post which    I would like to either move to private equity or back to consulting or even investment banking (M&A advisory), depending on the prospects.

In India,   reputed consulting firms usually don't hire an undergrad directly; they either expect you to have 1.5 to 2 years of relevant work experience or to have graduated from a tier-1 college to join as a "business or research analyst."

I want to work at my current job for six months or so post which I'm planning to switch.

To anyone reading this, how do I get into M&A consulting (in an MBB  or other top consulting firms, preferably) within the next two years? What roles and domains should I focus on to gain relevant experience? Which firms should I switch through before getting there, and how do I navigate starting from my current role?

PS - Any other relevant suggestions are welcome as well. Thanks!
