Australia Consulting Job Market for US expats?

My fiancee has a job offer with a startup in Australia that's frankly incredible.  She has lots of experience in similar products in the US, and super happy for her.  She claims she's not gonna leave me, but I'm sure finding a job in Australia could help.

I'm a Senior Manager at ACN Strategy (step prior to MD).  I'm not seeing a lot of opportunity for a transfer into Australia right now. I'm curious if any of you have a pulse on the job market in Australia, and how best to break in as an American expat (recruiters, cold-calls, etc.)?

Is Australia experience required to get a job in the Australia market?

I don't need sponsorship, since we're planning to elope and I'll come over on her visa.  Still working through that process but would love to start networking and figuring out the job market in the meantime.
