Bain BEL Return (ACI) Interview (Difficulty, Return %)

Hi all, I got accepted into the 2022 Bain BEL program this year and was wondering what the return interview for the ACI offer looks like. Has anyone gone through this program and have insight?

When I was at Bain, it was  ~50%, but I wouldn't say that those are your odds necessarily. Largely decided by your supervisor and the SM/AP on the case that you are assigned to. You'll be working with your supervisor for a week, and then the SM/AP will give you a simple profitability or market sizing case, and as long as you do well, you're fine. You don't have to be a rockstar, you just have to be quick to learn and not flub the case.

Source is that my BEL intern that I supervised got the return offer because of the above. I had about a 30 minute discussion with my SM/AP on my intern and the case went well, so he secured it.

Remember that the bar is lower compared to traditional ACI/AC interviews. They're packing in diversity early so that there's not as big of a scramble/offer showdown during ACI/AC interviews, and the interviewees are only sophomores so no big expectation to be as good at casing as a junior or Senior who has theoretically had 1-3 years to practice interviews.

Show up to the BEL program, tell your Supervisor how much you love Bain and want to work there in the future, practice your simple cases until you can do them with no big issues, work effectively on the project you're given (and ask for help when needed), and you'll be 100% fine. The ones that don't make it are usually the ones that don't practice the basic interviews, that are immature during the program, and that aren't dedicated to consulting as a career.

You'll do fine, my dude/dudette. You already got into the program--the rest is in the bag! You're going to crush it!

Remember, always be kind-hearted.

Thank you, you're the man. Excited to enjoy the week and make the most of it.
