I would really need some qualified advice:
My situation is the following...
I will have soon last round interviews for a senior position at Bain in th US. It is for the last step before becoming a partner (senior manager/principal is how they called it). It seems they really want me as they want someone with exactly my background (financial services).
I was a manager at another MBB before and a director at bank (not IBD) afterwards...
What I would like to know ist what comensation I shall ask for. I would give up a current income of around 300k USD...and I have heard (!) that Bain is willing to pay more than their standard comp. if they really want you (different to Mck and BCG)...
Ideas from people with some insight into Bain???
Any help is welcome...
A former McKinsey associate principal I'm acquainted with made around 400K all in when he left 5 year ago. Maybe you can expect something in that ballpark?
I might shoot for 500k all in...that was my initial idea...More input? Anyone? Come on!
That's a good point, the 400K I mentioned was 5 years ago, so you should definitely aim for more.

what would be the point of trolling? he isn't trying to start a fight or say anything outrageous. most likely he just wants honest information and advice, which usually comes with anonymity.
If you were a manager at another MBB couldnt you just shoot one of your old buddies an email and ask them this?

Thanks for your comments...;-) Starting with the least important - I am foreign (if you call the US your home), not above 45 and it´s useless to comment on the troll thing... So, why am I posting here...I would like to get infomation about current levels in the US...I left the other MBB place 3.5 years ago and I know what people in Europe make at this level, but that is not the point...I did have zero exposure to places outside Europe so looking somebody up in the Alumni net and call to ask this question might be a bit weird... So,..if someone knows or has some idea please let me know - the 400k USD are surely somewhat in the right direction as in the EU it was like 250k EUR 5 years ago on the other hand I got first hand partner comp info from an MBB place and their average at this office was 1.1 Mio USD for partners in year 1 - 6, which I found hard to believe, but it was in an internal presentation..... That´s why I think I should ask for more than 400k USD, given the fact I am meant to make partner in max. 2 years... So you see,...it´s not so easy and I do not want to miss out on 100 - 200k just for being not better informed...and btw this forum is not the only way I am approaching this...don´t worry;-)
i don't think junior partners (first 2 years) make that much...i know a partner that makes ~700K
and the curve is steeper in the end, the jumps are huge once you get share of the partnership
