Breaking into tier 2 consulting (UK)
Hi all, I’m a graduate who has recently started as an investment consultant in a large HR consulting firm (Mercer, Towers Watson, Aon Hewitt).
I’d like to know my best options for breaking into strategy consulting. I’m a Warwick university graduate with a first class degree, weak ECs, poor A levels, one audit internship, and 750 GMAT (Q48,V44). I had very little success (one interview invite) recruiting with any of the strategy firms in the last recruiting cycle before landing my current role.
My question is should I reapply to strategy analyst roles this year? The only change from my last applications will be about 6 months consulting experience and the GMAT score.
If I were to reapply in 2020, would I still be applying to analyst positions or the next level up?
If reapplications do not succeed, is it worth pursuing an MFin at a top school (Oxbridge, LBS)?
I appreciate any advice.
