Exit trajectory for an analyst with 1 year of experience

Hi all, I’m wondering what would be exit opportunities for a business analyst at a boutique strategy consultancy (highly-regarded firm founded by McKinsey alumni, but very little brand recognition given it’s a boutique). I have 1 year of experience straight out of undergrad, with prior internships in IB, growth equity, and various finance / ops roles.

Reasons for leaving are mostly culture oriented at my current firm. However, I’m not interested in lateralling to another consulting firm (at least right now), as I want to build an operator skill set as opposed to the more conceptual / ppt skills I’m building in my current role.

For my next role, I’m thinking of potentially doing in-house strategy, with the eventual goal of becoming an operator and learning how to run a business (I’m currently not particularly interested in any specific sector). If my goal is to become an operator, what roles / job titles should I be looking for that would enable me to acquire these skills?

Also, is there a difference between 1 YOE vs 1.5-2 YOE for recruiting? I want to make sure I’m not jumping the gun applying now, and that there isn’t a substantial gap in the opportunities I can pursue (and roles I could be offered) with only 1 YOE.

Thanks in advance!
