No. Do not be that guy that shows up for the first day overdressed. Ask HR what the dress code is, and then wear it. If it's MBB, I guarantee it will be business casual - slacks and a button-down shirt. Neither should be in any way, shape, or form interesting - blue shirt and tan slacks, white shirt and navy slacks etc. The consultant dress code is designed to not stand out.
Same issue--I've only been on the office on Fridays which are casual days. So in addition to not really knowing what people wear on week days, I also don't know how that'll change up in the summer. Do people wear the same wool slacks during the summer that they wear the rest of the year?
Take with a grain but I think it's better to play it safe on your first day. Show up in a suit and tie and take off the jacket and tie if appropriate.
People tend to think life is a race with other people. They don't realize that every moment they spend sprinting towards the finish line is a moment they lose permanently, and a moment closer to their death.
FYI: Business Casual was right on. One person showed up in a suit/tie, and took off his tie when he realized no-one else was wearing one. I also wore a monocle. Thanks for the advice.

What were people wearing when you interviewed?
Ask HR. That is literally all they're good for
Suit.. Why not ya know?

SB for you, Drexelalum. Truer words have never been typed on this board.
Blue shirt, slim fit, Brooks Brothers. Gray wool pants, no pleats. Black dress shoes. Purple bowler hat.
Contrasting collar definitely! Maybe even suspenders.
Morning coat, definitely.
Yes, I should have mentioned that.
